Acro

Acro Training Pathway

Acro is recognised as one of the competitive divisions at dance festivals and competitions, so it’s important our students receive the highest standard of technical preparation. For this reason, all tumble training is outsourced to our trusted friends at Unity Allstars Sussex, a local cheerleading programme with specialist expertise in tumbling. This partnership allows our acro students to benefit from dedicated, high-quality tumble coaching that is essential for safely and effectively performing acro skills. Once a student is ready and wishes to join our competition team, all choreography, routine development, and performance training will take place back at J.A.M Dance Academy through their own private class, ensuring they are fully prepared for the stage.

Stronger Together: The Backstory

The connection between J.A.M Dance Academy and Unity Allstars Sussex is deeply rooted in shared history and a lifelong passion for performance. Unity Allstars Sussex is co-owned by two sisters, Dani Jurgelewicz and Kayleigh Jurgelewicz. Both of whom began their journey as students at J.A.M Dance Academy, where they spent many years training and competing on stage. Their early experiences in dance inspired them to explore a different pathway into cheerleading, where they went on to compete for many years before progressing into coaching. Recognising their expertise, Miss Jo, the owner of J.A.M Dance Academy, invited Dani to return and work with J.A.M students to develop their tumbling skills for the Acro division. Shortly after, Dani and Kayleigh were presented with the opportunity to franchise one of the UK’s largest cheerleading organisations, leading to the creation of Unity Allstars Sussex and strengthening the partnership between the two organisations. At its heart, this collaboration is a full-circle moment. One that began with Miss Jo nurturing Dani and Kayleigh’s love for dance, and has now evolved into a lasting connection that continues to support the next generation of performers.
